My name is Frank Pugh. I am currently the Vice President of Professional Development for the Tallahassee PMI Chapter.  In this role, I coordinate activities intended to bring professional value to our members. These activities include Chapter Speakers, Professional Development Days, Lunch and Learns and much more.  I assist the VP of Programs in making our gatherings (both in person and virtual) substantial and educational, thereby advancing one or more sides of the PMI Talent Triangle.  In performing the duties above, I work with the VP of Communications to amplify our message through website, social media and Email outreach.  I thoroughly enjoy working with others to explore project management concepts.  I believe it is our highest calling to create an environment where we learn project management ideas and practices from each other and mentor those who seek such guidance.

I have 30 years of experience in Information Technology, 26 of which have been in a management capacity. I am currently a Project Manager at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory.  In my current assignment, I serve a team that is involved in research into the extraction of rare earths from phosphogypsum, a waste product from the phosphate industry.    My previous experience is in the healthcare data management industry. In that capacity, I designed technology, business processes, staffing and project management solutions.  Our clients were large healthcare financing programs operating in several state governments. From time to time, I joined my project management colleagues in the field.  There I assisted in delivery, change, risk, and issue management based upon project metrics such as cost, quality, and schedule performance.

I am originally from Des Moines, Iowa and for the last 23 years my wife and I have lived in Tallahassee, Florida. I have a Master of Science Degree in Physics, a PMP Certification and technical certifications in database and systems technologies.

Besides watching www.pmi.org webinars, my hobbies are computer programming, electronics, gardening, reading, and watching old movies.
