Hello and welcome to 2022!
For those of you who may not know me, my name is Karen Scott. I am the current President of the Tallahassee Project Management Institute Chapter. As is tradition, at the beginning of each new year the President shares their reflections and Chapter foresights into the coming months, so here are some of my thoughts.....
My overall reflection would be that 2021 passed by very quickly. Honestly it seems like a blip! Although many challenges were faced last year, more opportunities grew out of those trials. Several individuals I know stepped out of their comfort zones and took risks they may not have taken before. Personally, after almost two years I jumped back into project management consulting at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta. One thing I like about project management are the people you interact and must build relationships with, which primarily now is all virtual.
One thing the pandemic has made us appreciate is the gift of being in person with our colleagues, friends, and family. As a massage therapist, I appreciate the power of touch and I enjoy hugging people and making them feel welcome. We were so excited to start the chapter meetings in person for December but must go back to virtual for the February 7 chapter meeting. Go to the pmitlh.org website to register if you didn’t receive an email.
The Board met in December for our 2022 strategic planning session. The focus of 2022 will be Culture, Community, and Knowledge Sharing. Our culture of the chapter is evolving as our focus is changing from traditional project management to a holistic approach to driving change and process modifications. We continue to provide training opportunities for our other organizations in the community, such as Tallahassee Memorial and Tallahassee Community College. We are lining up other training opportunities for the chapter and are soliciting great speakers to share their knowledge and expertise at our chapter meetings.
If anyone is interested in serving on the Board, we have the VP of Communications, VP of Membership, and the First VP positions open. The First VP serves under the President for the year prior to becoming President. The Board is a great group of individuals who strive to provide value to our members, and potential members.
Although we will be staying virtual for the foreseeable future, we want you to know that we are still here to support you and provide a family for you to lean on. Remember that time is precious so live each day to the fullest!
Don’t hesitate to reach out to me if I can help in your professional endeavors.
Have a fantastic day and we look forward to seeing you virtually on February 7 for our speaker, April Blackburn, from 6-7:30pm.
Only the best for YOU in 2022!
