Event Topic: FacilitatingSuccessful Meeting
The presentation will allow attendees the opportunity to understand the different strategies for facilitating productive meetings as well as, for facilitating disruptive behaviors. In addition, the presentation will describe techniques to manage group conflict. I will also share the decision-making tools which can be used to build group consensus as well as clarify the various team roles using appropriate facilitation techniques.
Our Speaker: Shirley Combass
Shirley holds a B.A. in Business Administration and holds a Green Belt in Six Sigma. She is a certified instructor/trainer and facilitator. Shirley is a talented, high energy, results driven professional with over 27 years of military and state government progressively responsible management experience, which includes a repertoire of skills in leadership, process and performance management, strategic planning, emergency management and safety, human resources, and quality management. She also has experience as an examiner for the Florida Sterling Council. Additional experience includes meeting management and facilitation, team building strategies, training and development, and process reengineering. Shirley is currently preparing to take the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification exam in 2019.
Shirley currently works for the Florida Department of Revenue as the Planning and Operations process manager where she:
Provides supervision, strategic direction, leadership, oversight, communication and marketing strategies for the Department’s Planning and Operations processes within the Office of Workforce Management.
Manages the processes for establishing, reviewing, updating, and monitoring all Department policies and procedures.
Leads the coordination of the office’s strategic planning process which includes developing and deploying operational plans; monitoring and improving processes; developing performance measures; and ensuring completion of all planning related documentation.
Develops strategies including defining measures of success; setting 3 to 5 year stretch goals; identifying targets; and developing strategies, operational plans and continual improvement opportunities.
Partners with the Office of Communication and the Training and Professional Development Office to design and implement fiscal year marketing programs and initiatives targeted to increase interest and participation in the Department’s community service programs.
Coordinates and/or participates in contract administration activities for the Executive Direction and Support Services Program.
