Dr. Errol Wirasinghe of XpertUS will speak to us about decision-making and negotiating. As he puts it, decision-making is knowing what you want, and negotiating is getting what you want. Put another way, every action is a decision, and every interaction is a negotiation. These are teachable skills. They are necessary for every project manager.
According to Dr Errol, we must recognize that in today’s rapidly evolving big data environment, our common sense, logic, and intuition must be reinforced with analytical techniques. We must also understand that many items that we need in business are owned or controlled by someone else. The skill of negotiating seeks to give that person what they want in return for what we need. We must remain aware that every business interaction is at its core a negotiation.
