Operational Scheduling Dependencies: A Presentation by Tim Murphy, Director, DC Field Facility at NHMFL
The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory is a National Science Foundation funded user facility. This user facility is accessed by scientists (users) free of charge. The allocation of such magnet time is done through a process in which scientific proposals are evaluated and selected. The selected scientific proposals contain experiments which must be scheduled. These experiments give rise to demands on the facilities, staff and resources.
In this presentation, Tim Murphy will describe the several teams and the resources that they use in supporting scientific experiments. Having multiple experiments running simultaneously produces competing demands on the lab, which often manifest themselves through complex dependencies. Tim will walk us through the several dependency types as he describes the scheduling cycle involved.
Tim Murphy is an US Army Veteran, who has more than 30 years experience at the NHMFL. He is currently the Director of the DC Field Facility.
