Solar power has been expanding greatly as an energy source. The City of Tallahassee Electric Utility recently made its first foray into large-scale solar with the completion of a 20 Megawatt solar farm, which can provide energy for about 3400 homes. As simple as it may seem to set up solar panels and make electricity whenever the sun shines, a large solar project has many of the same complications as any other major project – a strict timeline, regulatory hurdles, financial review, management approvals, communications with community stakeholders, and more. This presentation will provide information about the COT’s electric utility system, solar energy, and the process of bringing a large project to fruition.”
